Before I had my coffee this morning in order to think straight, I came up with this. Run my vibe with 500SiC for a couple days and then move to 500AO. This of course is after 60/90 rotary, 120/220 vibe but before Rock Shed's AO Polish.
Considering the differences of SiC and AO in the way they breakdown, brittleness, rate of breakdown, continued sharp edges verse round balls, hardness etc., etc. I was wondering if there might be a wee bit of a performance advantage running both.
500AO is a wonderful prepolish but thinking the AO might breakdown too quickly before it has a chance at optimum scratch removal and micro-smoothing. Run the 500SiC first, go to 500AO and have the best of both worlds. Only negative I can think of is that it adds a few days.
Any thoughts or experiences?
Thanks

We have actually done this quite a bit in our UV-10 and it does produce fantastic results, but......................ultimately found that it was an unnecessary step. Starting with 120/220SiC in the vibe, if it is broken down correctly, 500AO has no problem picking up the process. It's a nice idea, I just didn't think it made a difference.
For the record, if we noticed any improvement in finish we wouldn't hesitate to add steps as we process for ourselves first and sell second.

Ah, very much appreciate letting me know where you've been on this one, and your final analysis. I also run the UV10 and my 120/220 typically goes for threes day so in all practicality I guess it's ready for 500AO after that.
BTW, sending a belated congratulations to you and your son on the trophy this year. Loved the pics of him with the hammer & trophy slab.

Thanks for the kind words Terry!
