A pocket of agate and quartz in a chunk of Ohio flint. There is no vug. What looks like a vug is solid, druzy quartz.  |

I don't even know why I picked up that piece of rough, and after I cut the first two slabs, I almost tossed it aside because it was boring. Then the third slab got good. I wouldn't call it a full-on agate, but it's something more than a quartz filled vug. Definitely lots of surprises! |

The first couple cuts show nothing much...then WHAM!  I think that "window" will look amazing once polished. I think it's going to resemble a Thunderegg cab where the matrix is an "accent"... Hmmm. I might see a winner! I thought the same thing jasoninsd did. I think I need more sleep... This flagate (flint agate) should have had you reacting like this!  |

Cut it! That will make an awesome stone. Oh I will. Whether or not it becomes my November Druzy Challenge entry is yet to be seen. But it will become a cab very soon. |

I bought a set of stainless templates from hplapidary.com Transparent plastic has its advantages, but stainless steel should last forever. Set of 10 for $85 + free shipping. Currently out of stock. |
