Here are a few more jasper, with detail photos of my favorites. These all went through many weeks in stage 1 until they started to feel smooth to me. At this point, I couldn't begin to tell you how long, since I have four barrels running & they are often all running coarse. Each week, I am able to pull out a small handful that are ready to move on to stage 2. It takes about a month to get enough ready for the 120/220 grit. Some of these rocks also spent a couple weeks in stage 2. Stages 3 & 4 have been pretty consistently a week each, although I sometimes find a couple rocks that need a second round in polish. I think this first group is mostly Desert Jasper from the Rock Shed: These are three of my favorites from that group:
This next group is some more of the Brecciated Jasper I got from Rough Stone Rocks:
Here are some of my favorites from that group:

Seriously RW, you're getting an amazing polish on your tumbles! Way to go! I still have an affinity for those brecciated pieces!

The first group appear to be polychrome jasper from Madagascar. I like the stuff and it usually takes a great polish. The brecciated jasper appears to be from South Africa. I like it too, but you seem to have gotten a better polish tumbling it than I have gotten cabbing it. In both cases, your patience in stage one really paid off. Those are some top notch tumbles!

I think desert jasper is just another name for polychrome jasper. Looks like the same stuff I have bought under the polychrome name.
