I recently purchased a secondhand Lortone 33b tumbler. After just a few days use the rollers that drive the barrels are wearing badly and the barrels roll around all over the place or stall against the sides. I guess I can buy a new set of rollers but can anyone give me a clue as to why these have worn so badly? I don’t think the barrels were overloaded, they were about half full of mixed size rocks and the appropriate grit with enough water to just cover the rocks. I lubricated the bearings and everything was turning freely when I started. It is unusable at present.

What do you mean when you say the rollers are "worn out". Are they straight Is the rubber coating coming off Are the bearings getting thin
New Rollers are $8 at rockshed

New Rollers are $8 at rockshed Thanks for the response. The rollers were in good condition, after a few days of tumbling the rollers are now worn unevenly and the metal is showing through in places. Is it possible post a picture in this forum?

Sounds like maybe someone had put that Plasti-dip material on the rollers to make them look new. I had some rollers that were the same and the barrels didn’t want to turn good. I tried the Plasti-Dip which worked great, the rollers grabbed the barrels better and everything was rolling great….for about 2 days when all the Plasti-Dip wore off. Get new rollers from the Rock Shed and you should be back in business.
