In this particular batch I have a few rocks that have more pitting than normal, so I'm forced to have a cleanout stage in between. I added 1.5 tablesppon borax and a squirt of soap and plan on running for a few hours. Is it more effective to keep the water level low as when tumbling or better to have more water for the cleanout?

Not speaking from experience but I would think the more water, the more it would be able to carry any unwanted grit away from the stones.

Thanks 😊. Sometimes I feel like I need to win the lottery so I can have a room full of tumblers and vibes and spend my days seeing what's under the covers of the rocks I find. Sadly I cannot since I have to do the adulting thing to pay the bills.

I fill it up just like I was tumbling with grit. Anything that gets thick makes it stick.

I fill it up with as much water as I was using when doing the grit cycles. Sometimes go a bit heavy on the soap though.
