I couldn't help myself and peaked in early on a polish run. This bad boy looked to be about done: Impossible to avoid undercutting with Nelsonite, but I love the metallic shine. Will definitely try a bigger piece in the future (this one is about 2" long).

Neat! That looks like the egg from an alien species. Belongs front and center in a display

I had to look it up. It's a very old and interesting rock. Thanks for posting it, now I know the VA state rock, Nelsonite named after Nelson county.

LOL I lived there for about 20 years, and I always thought that the state stone was something called "Hokie Stone". Up until today, I had never heard of either Nelson County or Nelsonite.

I looked up Nelsonite cabochons on Google...there were two examples...so I'm guessing not a lot of cabs being made out of this material. rrod - That really is a cool looking specimen! I think it'll look pretty cool once it's done! Thanks for posting this!

One side was completely missing the inclusions, so I tumbled it 4ever-and-a-day until the white and brown dots appeared on that side. Probably lost enough titanium to make a new hip! If I did it again I might try leaving some of the holes.

I wasn't trying to say I thought it wasn't done...I thought YOU said it wasn't done since you had said you "peaked in early"...so I thought maybe it had some more cooking to do! LOL I think it really is a stunner. I get it that not all rocks which are tumbled are going to be "perfect"...heck, you should see some of my tumbles! LOL
