Hello everyone. I have been learning things from this website and wanted to show you my wares before they go to polishing. I have been tumbling Tiger's Eye and Emeralds. These are my very first batches, well second batch. My first were rubies and I put them aside for awhile. So technically, these are my first. I broke these up using a hammer. I wonder if they would have shaped better if I had cut them? These ran in coarse grit for about 4 weeks and then in fine grit for 3 weeks. I think I need to run them in borax before continuing on to pre-polish? Also, can I use polish and pre-polish in the same barrel? Here's a close up of the Tiger's eye. These are wet so they would shine Now here are some Emeralds I tumbled. I did have both the tiger eye and emeralds in the same coarse and fine batch. I will polish them separately though. I have another batch of rough emeralds. I will probably save these to polish with them. Here is a closeup. Sorry that picture isn't clear. I was so excited! If anyone has any advise for me I would definatley listen! I have some obsidian I received from Tellfamily tumbling now, almost ready for fine run. I also have amber. I'm not really sure what to do with it. Thank you for looking and Thank you for this website

Looks Awesome- I first thought they were all polished up- Now comes the hard part- Nursing for a few more weeks (thru the pre-polish and polish) I use one barrel for pre-polish and polish- just make sure to clean it real well between stages-

Those are looking great Tonja! I'm looking forward to seeing them polished, I'm not sure what advice to give since you have the rotary tumbler but one thing that I can recommend (you may already know) is to use plenty of plastic pellets, I found out the hard way that I wasn't using enough. I had to add so many that my vibe bowl looked like a bowl of oatmeal with some rocks in it. ;D (never use the same pellets for polishing that you use in the course and fine grit, I have pellets that I use for polish only) The pellets are re-usable. Good luck!

I really don't know. I don't know what kind came with my thumblers tumble. All it says is pre-polish and polish. I have another load of rough to roll, so it will be awhile before I polish them. Any suggestions? PS The tiger eye has finished it's borax bath and was placed in pre-polish this morning. If I wanted to make jewlery from it, where do I get the "jewlery"?
