Here's a couple cabs I did last night...well...actually around 2:00 this morning because I couldn't sleep and figured I'd give a couple "new" materials a whirl. I was probably still overstimulated from watching the Adele concert on CBS yesterday evening...which was freaking awesome! Rhodonite: I got this material from @jadedvision ...thanks JV! This is nice material to work. I got a bit of undercutting, but I really love this stuff. Sodalite: This was one of my early X-Mas presents from my wife. Boy did this take a great polish! I did get some undercutting in those white areas...but hardly noticeable to the naked eye. Blue & Gold Tiger Eye: Another early X-Mas present from my wife. Working this material was a little tricky...and was a learning process for sure. There is one tiny pot toward the top, but that's the only one. Thanks for taking a gander...

Wonderful cabs, Jason. All of them are favorites.
I really like cutting sodalite, too. It's an easy cut and never seems to disappoint.

Wonderful cabs, Jason. All of them are favorites. I really like cutting sodalite, too. It's an easy cut and never seems to disappoint. Thanks Gary! I ended up cutting another dozen or so preforms of that Sodalite today because I liked it SO much! Shiny! Looking great. I want to cut my tiger eye up too. Those are beautiful. Thanks Perk! I've shied away from Tiger Eye since day one...I don't know why exactly...but now that I've "cut my teeth " on it, I want to keep working it! LOL - There's just something magical about the chatoyance. Beautiful cabs Jason! That's an amazing polish you pulled out on them 👍 Thanks Nate! I was surprised with the shine on both the Sodalite and the Tiger Eye...surprised in a good way! LOL - I will say, I was a bit clumsy with a piece of the Sodalite preform...and it didn't feel like surviving the drop to the concrete floor! LOL Thanks Paul! I'm pretty stoked about the Tiger Eye. I cut some "regular" Gold Tiger Eye preforms today...so that'll be one of the next ones I work. Wow, you got a great shine on all three! I really like them all -- can't pick a favorite. Thanks Robin! I almost sent you and Vince a message asking about the Tiger Eye giving me fits...but I finally figured it out...and I realized you weren't going to answer me at 2:00 this morning! LOL All three of those are winners. Fantastic colors all around and a great shine! Thanks Brian! I've been noticing how many brown rocks I have. Don't get me wrong, they're kinda pretty brown rocks...but they're still brown. I love the splash of colors these materials provide.

jasoninsd - I would've answered at 2:00 AM, but all the bleeps would've just sounded like morse code... .
Heh - you know me well enough to know I'm kidding. I did a lot of cutting around that time of day when I started.
The variegated tiger always will be my favorite. Fun cutting that stuff, huh. Orientation required in three axes and such. Looks like you nailed the orientation and the polish both on that one.
If you're lucky, sometimes you can find it with blue, gold, and natural red all in one piece. It's said that brush fires can cause a red color in some pieces if the deposit is near the surface of the ground. Have seen lots of cooked red, but there's a difference in the way the red looks if you find all three colors in a piece.

Wow! Three nice ones. Careful on making that many teardrops, though. People might start to worry you’re depressed.

Then again it was practically a Monsoon outside today. I think I heard a few cars being blown over in the street! 😂

Thanks Vince! Nah...I wouldn't have really called then. Maybe text! (Kidding!) I just couldn't sleep last night and couldn't sit in front of the TV, so I figured I'd give these a shot. I've messed around with some Red Tiger Eye that was cooked...in fact got it from Stephan. We both had some issues with that material "shredding" during the cabbing. Hmmm...shredded cabbage! I actually thought some of the rough at the Rock Shed (where this came from) did have red...but after closer inspection, it was only the "rind" that had the red tint to it. I really inspected the rough pretty thoroughly as well as the slab when cutting the preform. I will say I got lucky...with a bit of an educated guess...so it wasn't just blind luck getting the orientation right. Wow! Three nice ones. Careful on making that many teardrops, though. People might start to worry you’re depressed. Thanks Stephan! Well...I have been listening to Adele songs pretty much non-stop since yesterday evening...so maybe the teardrops are apropos! LOL

Over 65mph...and I'm pretty sure some well over 70mph. We've had a couple calm days, but now they're calling for high winds again until Wednesday evening. Arghhh Good thing is I don't have hair long enough to get messed up! LOL
