Stefan: I do most my cutting on an old Highland Park 20" slab saw (when it's working right!)

Wow, that stuff is gorgeous. Looks as pretty as any ocean jasper I've seen. You're so lucky that you can find stuff like that close to you, it's amazing.

Mel, Quit Showing Off! LOL! I'd be showing that stuff off as well...truly great looking stuff. That has to be cool to have that sort of stuff within miles of your ranch. Still drooling in my slobbery "state of being". Thanks for showing us that there's still awesome looking material out and about! Do you need a ranchhand? Steve

KD & Cookie: I do sell rocks on E-Bay once and awhile when I need to buy a new wheel or saw blade but most of this poppy jasper material I find is in small pieces suitable mainly for tumbling or small cabs. The Primrose Jasper occurs mainly as small nodules and pieces big enough to slab are rare. I have quite a few large boulders too big for my saw but I really don't have enough blocked or sliced to do serious selling and much prefer trading with friends so I can get examples of their local materials for my collection. The slabs pictured of course, are some of the best I've collected and cataloged into my own personal collection.

And they are some mighty fine examples too! Have you ever found any nice stuff like this on public land around there? Like along side the road or a streambed? Do you want to invite me to your ranch? I can be there in a couple of hours ya know. Just kidding.

Stoner: The sites are unfortunately all on private ranches and last time I went up to the ranch I was dismayed to find "for sale" signs up on two of my favorite sites. Actually, those sites are now yielding pretty slim pickings anyway, unless after a big rain. Most ranches don't allow me to dig so the surface material gets picked up pretty quick.
