Hi guys, I live in Nevada and have 40 acres of wonderstones and more. Recently I've seen some high polished ones and figured I should try some rock tumbling. Any recommendations on relatively high output tumblers that don't use a lot of power? (I live off-grid) Here are some pretty rocks I've found today photos.app.goo.gl/SHZvHAdNEedgLqFs9photos.app.goo.gl/Ha4KzWPwoi6TZtcRA

Hey Bianca! Welcome to the forum from South Dakota! I'm sure there will be some more experienced tumblers chiming in on your questions. Here are your pics:

I just copied the image address (I clicked on the picture in the link you sent, so it opened up the actual picture), then I used the "Insert Image" button (the third button over in the left group of buttons above where you type your replies)...then just pasted the image address in there. I'm sure that's clear as mud! LOL

I post pics through Tapatalk when I'm on my phone...so I'm not sure how else to do it. Sorry.

Welcome to the forum biamorton! I'm going to chime in on the tumbler subject. Lortone all the way. They offer 3 pound tumblers clear to 40 pounders. I have the dual 3lber and love it. One thing to keep in mind is that the bigger the tumbler, the more grit it uses. Grit is generally silicon carbide as the first three stages and then aluminum oxide or other metal oxide. Seeing as you live off the grid, you probably wouldn't want to have to pay shipping on the pounds of grit you would have to order for a 40 pounder. I would recommend you start off with a relatively low-cost tumbler just to make sure you even like the hobby. If you want to start off big, go for the qt-12 by Lortone. Once you get more into the hobby, you will probably want to consider a vibratory tumbler. A vibratory tumbler does the same job as a traditional tumbler but faster and with less grit. Hope that helps a bit.

Lortone is my tumbler of choice also. Simple and durable tumblers. They are hard to get right now. Craigslist/MarketPlace/EBay may be an option for you.

jasoninsd I tried clicking on the link and opening a picture but I didn't see the button to insert it into this forum. I am using a computer, not a phone. Bums me out; I'd like to be able to post pictures. I followed all the instructions on this forum to use that special program but I still can't do it

The only way I know how to post pics is through Tapatalk on my phone... I know a lot of people have a problem trying to get signed up for Cloudinary, but once all the pieces fall together, then using it is apparently easy...
