That's beautiful. Thank you When I first got into tumbling, it seemed that everything was mostly brown and black and grey. One day I found the most beautiful green rock in an Oregon stream. Before researching it, I said to myself "well, this is going to be easy, because there aren't very many green rocks I think." Did I ever get a surprise! There are lots of them. It took over a year to ID it as Vesuvianite. So, more or less, I've tried to collect or buy quite a few of the variety of green rocks as they are my fav color of rocks. A few months ago, I was exploring some desert country in New Mex and found a dark green/black one in an area where most rocks were white or orange or red. I grabbed it! It's a darker green anything I've ever tumbled and I'm very excited about it. It's still in rough grind. Most of the green rocks I've found have been close to the US/Can border, and most have not done well in tumbling being too soft.

Hello, I have been tumbling rocks for just under a year and have used both rocks I've found and rocks I've bought. I want to find a rock that will tumble into a dark green color, which so far I haven't seen. Any suggestions? Green opal. Jasper also occurs in the same dark green.

I've tumbled a lot of this. It's extremely frustrating and problematic. There are pits and porous areas that just seem to never stop. Maybe 10% came out looking great and shiny.
