Here's one for the history books. Guessing the blade bound up in a cut decades(?) ago. Spun the set screw. Previous owner couldn't get the pulley off. I finally did, and found at least .002" ridge around the shaft. I almost cut the old pulley off - now I know why it was such a hassle.
At least now I can swap the feed drive pulley for a smaller one and use it as-is for a while.

I just tore into one that might match it. I ought to start a thread on it.

Yeah - that one's pretty crusty. Would make a great refurb thread. Lots of new people post old combo units they've bought - and can't disassemble.

On the up side, you don't need to worry about breaking the grinding wheels while trying to get them off.

hummingbirdstones2 I would grind a flat on that shaft for under the setscrews after filing it clean and use loctite. One of my motors looked about like that recently, I bought all steel pulleys with 2 setscrews off Amazon for the FranTom when I redid it. Rocks sure like to mess with equipment.

Rockoonz - do you ever bother with tapping a second set screw hole into pulleys/sheaves? Easier to order new, but sometimes I'm impatient.

Rockoonz - do you ever bother with tapping a second set screw hole into pulleys/sheaves? Easier to order new, but sometimes I'm impatient. It would work fine with lots of oil in a pot metal pulley with a large center hole, but a royal PITA with cast iron or small center holes with no bottoming taps. I am also horrible at drilling or starting taps without guides to get a decent 90 degrees. I also recomend that if you see any equipment upgrades in your future get the parts now even if you won't have the time to get to it for awhile, spare parts aren't going to get easier to find.
