Boy, there was a lot of interesting material this week. I don't know the technical term for it, but a lot of the material was "flakey" (kinda like me! LOL). Not much took a glass-like polish...but I suppose just like tumbling rocks, not every rock is going to take a high shine. I think I got the most out of these that the materials would allow. Pics 1-5: This is material I received from stewdogg . Thanks Jesse! 1-4 are pieces he collected around Lake Superior and 5 is a piece of possibly Quartzite that he won in a poker game against Gene Simmons. I might have that mixed up a little, but he'll correct me if I'm wrong on that. I really don't know what materials 1-4 are, but I love them...so if anyone has any ideas, let me know. Pic 6: Lepidolite - This piece came from my brother-in-law which was collected here locally. I'm going to need to find out where he found this. I like it! Pics 7-8: Rhodonite which came from an old friend. Pics 9-11: Kambaby Ocean Jasper - I have to tag knave to take a look at the third one... Pics 12-14: Tiger Eye - These were already dopped before holajonathan revealed the theme for the cab challenge this month! LOL Pics 15-17: Tabu Tabu Jasper - Out of the $3 miscellaneous bin at The Rock Shed. I was hoping this would have a glass-like polish, but it does undercut slightly...I still love the patterns and overall look to this material. There's a lot of Hematite. Pics 18-21: Brazilian Piranha Agate: I really love this material. It takes a great polish, and I think the patterns in it are pretty amazing. Pic 22: Chrysocolla in Quartz - Talk about brittle material. I probably only got 60% of the preforms I was trying to cut not to disintegrate. It's another "flakey" material, so no glass-like polish, but it did take a high polish. Thanks for taking a gander. These might be some of the last cabs I grind on the slant cabber...hmmm... Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8 Pic 9 Pic 10 Pic 11 Pic 12 Pic 13 Pic 14 Pic 15 Pic 16 Pic 17 Pic 18 Pic 19 Pic 20 Pic 21 Pic 22

I'm totally in love with the patterns in those Piranhas! And I'm going to have to advertise that "8" for sale on a pool forum! LOL There might be a very high chance that FedEx is delivering a couple boxes today... hopefully both of them and not just one shows up! LOL

It’s all very beautiful. I love the 8 Jason! My favorite shape and maybe favorite piece is… the brecciated piece in pic #2. I love slender shapes. 🤔 hmm that…. Well.

Weird...because that second cab seems so appealing, it must have the same dimensions as Jayne Mansfield! LOL When I was cutting the preform on that second cab, I had a gut feeling that one was going to be pretty special...and it is to me! LOL

As I scrolled down, I was trying to remember numbers. Then I said screw it- they are ALL awesome! Thanks Tela! I love posting this many at once...you know...overwhelm the senses and memory with mass quantity! LOL If I can figure out how to cab without having to dop, the numbers would be off the charts! LOL

"5 is a piece of possibly Quartzite that he won in a poker game against Gene Simmons" LOL, I found it on a spiritual journey through the Kettle Moraine Forest. As I looked through the forest I came upon a mountain of rocks and on top of that mountain was my spirit animal Gene Simmons. He handed me this rock and told me to give it to "the rock whisperer". I didn't know who the rock whisperer was, so I gave it to Jason. Turns out that I did indeed find the rock whisperer after all. Nice work on these my friend, I love all the material and cabs! I know it didn't take much of a polish, but I did like the pattern and colors on this one as well... Haha, I come into your posts when I am feeling too lazy and need some inspiration. You are a machine my friend! Dang, That Laker is nuts!!

LOL When I first saw that black and red rock when it was still in the box, I was hoping it would take a good polish...but, like you, I'm okay without the high shine on that one as the pattern definitely makes up for it not having a gloss finish. Yeah...that Laker is one of the oddest and coolest LSA's I've seen...and when it's backlit, it's the bomb!
