jasoninsdGoodness! What an awesome batch of cabs. I like them all but 9-11 and 18-21 really grabbed my attention. Well done Jason and thanks for posting the pictures. I would hang onto that slant cabber and put a 600 grit hard wheel on it. I have a 600 grit 6” hard wheel on one of my old arbors. I find that I use it quite a bit. It gets used mostly to clean up high spots left by the 220 hard wheel. I also love it for grinding the bevel on the back corner of all cabs. It grinds surprisingly fast but it’s not aggressive so it’s perfect for very controlled work. I hope your new machine gets there today. You are truly addicted now.

Awesome cabs! Tiger eye is my favorite. Too bad you can't enter them in the contest. I think they show up mine! 😂 Thanks Perk! Nah...I've got something different in mind for the challenge. I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off or not, but it'll be a "do or die" kinda thing! LOL jasoninsd Goodness! What an awesome batch of cabs. And yes, those Brazilians were definitely formed spectacularly well...by nature...I take no credit for the beauty of those babies! I'm not getting rid of the slant cabber...I know there's numerous uses for that machine still. Good idea on the hard disks! As time goes on, I'll likely build up the gambit of grits. It did get here today...and I can't be addicted...there has to be a point PAST addiction! LOL Thanks Ed! I think Epidote is a good ID on some of these. Really nice cabs and a great variety of color. Thanks so much Victor!

Why don't you quit being so lazy? Are you trying to wear out your slant lap so you can justify the purchase of a cabbing machine?
1. Looks like a serpentine group mineral. Lots of that stuff in Michigan. If so, takes a decent but not great shine.
2. Granite with red quartz and edpidote?
3. Unakite with clear quartz, green edpidote, and pinkish feldspar? Unikite is a type of granite.
4. Unikite as well with similar "ingredients" to #3.
That Lepidolite is pretty. Lighter purple than the Lepidolite I have which is from Wyoming. Does it sparkle?
That Tabu Tabu stuff is sweet. Probably my favorites from this group. I've never gotten a glassy shine on hematite. I don't think it's possible.

I know...I need to start getting a little something done every once in awhile. LOL Thanks for the ID help! The Lepidolite does sparkle...not as much as your drag queen druzy this month...but it does sparkle. I love 18! And I'm waiting patiently to see what your next toy is Thanks Ali! That orbicular patterning in 18 was only along the outside edge of the rock...so only some slabs - and only the perimeter of those had any useable patterning. I'll post something here in a little bit. It did get here today...and I can't be addicted...there has to be a point PAST addiction! LOL Pictures, or it didn't happen!

As I scrolled down, I was trying to remember numbers. Then I said screw it- they are ALL awesome! Thanks Tela! I love posting this many at once...you know...overwhelm the senses and memory with mass quantity! LOL If I can figure out how to cab without having to dop, the numbers would be off the charts! LOL Very doable with your new toy. I probably like cabbing with a dop better, but it's too big of a hassle. They break off half the time. Sometimes I don't get the dop centered or straight. With Montana agates and other translucent material, I like to polish the back as I go. Can't do that with a dop. I want to spend the maximum amount of time cabbing, which is why I hardly ever use a dop. As a bonus, I haven't had to use a fingernail clipper in many months.
