Isn't it funny how so many of us make "food comments" in reference to the rock pictures? Wouldn't they make a great salad?
I haven't posted pics in over a year. Here is some of what I've been doing...Glad to be back!
My current recipe is:
1. Mexican agates. Very rugged stone and difficult to get uniformly smooth. Got em pretty cheap at the end of a rock show.
2. In the centre are some black stones that took a mirror polish - difficult to see, though. Surrounded by quartz and white/brown agate.
3. This stone came from J2B2 on ebay. I believe this is "Brandt's Red Jasper". Lovely red and white mottled look.
4. More J2B2 stuff. Looks kinda like red moss agate, but not mossy enough :-)
5. My pride and joy (This one's for you, James!). Bloodstone, Imperial agate (india), green moss, pink and green agate. Mirror shine.
6. I dunno what this is. Has white, butter and red coloring. Some of it looks like reddish pet wood, but isn't. Came out really nice. Bought at a rock show.
7. Good old Pet wood. This has really become one of my favorite stones. Consistently good results. I was trying to be artistic here...
Blue Lace (Africa) and Chinese Jasper. I'd never seen chinese jasper before, but it turned out exceedingly well. I was fortunate enough to find some more recently. I found the blue lace very difficult to work with. I think I had it in coarse for 6 or 7 weeks. Can you seen the pattern of triangles on top of one chunk? This appeared on several of them.
All photos taken with a black background, natural light, no flash. Rocks are dry.
Thanks to everyone else who continues to share - love seeing your results!
