It seems like forever since I've had any pics of polished stones to post, but hopefully that will change soon. In the meantime, in response to bikerrandy's call for pics, this is all I've got that is new... this is some Arizona rainbow wood that I got from a number of different ebay or other sources last winter and spring, and I don't expect the main batch to be ready until about Christmas (it's now finished coarse grind, but I'm waiting for a free barrel so I can move it to 120/220). Anyhow, I fast-tracked these three pieces with a load of other stuff a couple of months ago, just to assure myself that it would shine up nicely, as the stuff is so damn chippy. I wasn't going to post these until the main batch was done, but what the heck.

If those were on the fast track and look like that, I'm looking forward to see what the others will look like on the slow track. Great job RollingStone.

Thanks all,
When I say I fast-tracked these, I didn't mean that I cut any corners. My coarse tumbles seem to end up as a mix of all kinds of things, so whenever I wash and recharge I take out whatever stones are done in rough and separate them into appropriate batches to run from fine grind to polish, based on things such as rock type, hardness, how easily they fracture, etc.
This particular material has no shine in rough form, it just looks waxy, it even repels water like a wax candle. I started to worry if it would even take a shine, so I put these 3 pieces in with another load that was starting on the road to polish (mainly local petwood if I recall correctly). I'm really happy with how these turned out, and now I have enough out of coarse grind to run a pure barrel of this to polish, just as soon as I open up some room on my tumblers.

Looks like those are outstanding shines, ie Jamesed. I love the one with the Lemon yellow color.
