Ok, it isn't big compared to what you can cut with a 20 inch saw but for me it was a biggy! It's a little darker than these show, tends more toward a raspberry color but I wanted to show the patterns so used the flash. Stefan, you might remember this one, I posted a pic awhile back. It was 3.5 inches long, sorry forgot to measure the depth, but it was a couple inches. It was a little tough, trying to keep it lined up while rolling it, then changing ends and eyeballing it. I did cut one little piece off one end so I had a flat side to work with instead of the little pointy end. Once I got through that, cutting these nice little slabs was a breeze, this is sooooo much fun it should be against the law.

Cher-
Excellent. I'll bet you're happy with that 'eh? You know me and reds......OHHHH.
....against the law......too funny. I had so much fun with my friends saw that I know the feeling. Wish I could get to it again. And you thought you were going to have a depressing day!!!!!!!

Boy did it ever, like dark rust color. KD Isn't it nice, I was amazed at the patterns in there, needless to say, I'm very happy and I'm heading back downstairs to finish up that piece.

I likee reds too. That one is real fire engine red too. Is the dark area hematite? I know you have a lot of jaspelite from your neck of the woods. Looks like that will turn out some corker stones!

If there's any hematite, it's very thin, mostly just different shades of jasper, from red to maroon. What the heck is jaspelite? I know we have jasper, never heard of that one. Ok, going to search for it. LOL
Jaspilite: term used by geologists for a metamorphic rock containing at least 25% iron, occurring with iron ores, and resembling jasper, usually having steel gray bands alternating with red jasper.

Jaspelite in your neck of the woods? I thought ALL your rocks up there contained 100% iron? LOL,

Cher - You're supposed to say "I cut a big one, Alice."
Didn't you ever watch the Honeymooners? Nice rock, by the way.

Oh yeah, still have all of my fingers but after an hour of cutting, they didn't want to straighten back out again. Guess it's wise to take occasional breaks and warm them up a little.
