I kept seeing jasoninsd's cabs and was inspired to go out and cab (AKA freeze in the garage, I'm ready for summer now, thanks ) This is my cab for the night, IMG_20211215_194453056 by Perkins17, on Flickr IMG_20211215_194513117 by Perkins17, on Flickr Oh yeah, and do you think it's dyed? It turned my water super green and I couldn't get the "moss" to shine up real good. Thanks for looking! Hope you like it.

Way to go Perk! It looks like you absolutely nailed the shape, dome, and girdle on that one!
I can't answer about the "dye"...but I do know certain materials will make a huge mess with regards to different colors. The best is red, when it "bleeds" all over the place. LOL

Really nice cab! You did good.
I don't think it's dyed. Lots of rocks "bleed" different colors when you cut them depending on the minerals it contains. Once you cut some marcasite plume, Apache Gold, Boulder Opal, etc. then you'll see what a real mess looks like in your water pan.

I am focusing on getting good girdles now. I bet you're right about it not being dyed I have DEFINITELY cut a few bloody red rocks. I had orange hands for a while after one! 😂

I agree. I think the worst "bleeding" rock I've cut was probably either some red rock that I'm pretty sure was fully hematite, or some lapis. The red one actually stained my hands!

I need to order an apron. Thanks for the advice!

Nice job perkins17 . Did you use a dop or just your fingers?

Nice job perkins17 . Did you use a dop or just your fingers? Thank you. I can't cut without my dops. With fingers, I would be even worse at cabbing
