Hello wanted to share my current projects in process. Here is an attempt at a turtle. The head got injured when it dropped on a floor so now I am changing the pose to have the head drawn further into the shell. It had been slow going because I am using Columbian Emerald I ordered from Rough Stone King (roughstoneking) on ETSY (highly recommended vendor). Below it the point in the repair I am currently at. I will put images of the timeline up to now below and explain the accident and new vision for the piece and then keep you folks posted to see what the end product is. (If this should go in the creation section just let me know. I figured I would display my finished pieces there and share the ones in process here if that is ok.)  |

 Here was the initial 3000 ct.batch from roughstoneking ($35!) The turtle will be from the piece in the center I began with because it was free of matrix needing to be cleaned off. |

And here we are. The turtle will rise again! I find when a mistake happens it is my vision for the piece that is unclear. So far nothing that was supposed to be there had broken off on me while carving something. The flaws are mine not the stone.

This is going to be way cool to watch. Too bad the little guy had his block knocked off, though. Thank you! I know, right? He had the most adorable beak. But as some kind of miracle the proportions were a little too big on the front legs, anyhow, so I think once I shrink it back there should should be room for a head that makes sense for the shape. And I would rather that happen while I can still fix it rather than have some poor person take that home and have it happen. |

I "liked" all the pictures...except the decapitation photo!  I'll agree with Robin...this will be fun to watch from the sidelines. Thank you for taking the time to let us join in!  |

That's an unfortunate break but you can adapt and conquer! Beautiful work so far and looking forward to pics of the future progress 👍

Very cool! Too bad about the break but it sounds like the end result may turn out better than originally planned!
Thanks for posting the progress pictures! These projects are fun to see and it helps me appreciate the amount of work that goes into them.

Headroom now (hehe)
Next step to make the legs all the size of the smallest one and center them. Then see how much of a shell will be symmetrical and once those ratios are right I will know what the head exactly will be doing

 Don't know if this will come out but I wanted to catch the translucency. That will be another way to know when I have shrank it just right, when the glow makes it through more of the body. |
