I posted this to see, as much as anything else, if I could successfully scan and post a picture of a couple of my polished rocks. Looks like it was successful!

Good job, that stuff is really pretty too. You do want to be very careful, I scratch the glass on mine scanning rocks.

Cher were you scanning polished rocks or rough rock? Doesn't seem like a polished rock would scratch

I use a clear plastic sheet on my scanner- I get it from Joanns - it is used as a grip fro quilting rulers- Takes a bit for the air bubbles to settle out- but I never worry about the scanner glass scratching!
