I would say it was a weekend well spent! I believe they are ALL outstanding looking cabs...as always from you! I will also say I am SO jealous of what you get done with that Noreena. I know we've talked about it before, but the shine you get on those makes me very envious! (Now I'm going to have to watch the movie "Seven"! LOL) I really think this Mushroom stole the show for me!

The first Noreena with a little bit of lavender is spectacular. I remember liking your mushroom rhyolite slabs, and I'm glad to see you've had some success cabbing it as well. It looks like it polished pretty well -- not always the case with rhyolite.
What did you use for final polish on the brecciated jasper? I continue to think yours is probably from South Africa. I could never get similar material from SA to shine very well until I did a final polish with cerium oxide.

I am convinced that Noreena varies a lot of terms of taking a polish. I've never been able to polish the stuff I've got, and I've tried all the suggested methods (hot, dry, etc...) Then again, I also wrote off obsidian, and I was wrong about that.

I'm going to try it again on the new cabber and see what, if any effect it will have. I'm pretty sure the rough I have isn't the kind that will take a polish...at least that's what I've told myself so far! LOL

I'm hoping to get to the rock shop where I got that brecciated jasper in the next few weeks and will try to remember asking where it came from and hopefully get some more. It's one of my favorite rocks to work with lately. All of the pieces come out so bright and the slabs are fairly solid with a few trouble areas. I am giving some away for Xmas this year which will be a fist for me.

That is the case with the similar looking material that I've got.

Well, as others have said, those cabs are so top notch. All favorites, but the third Noreena and the Mushrooms stand out.

That is the case with the similar looking material that I've got. Yeah it seems softer. The pink parts are pretty hard but not like agate. The clear parts are softer and seems to get some putting or undercutting. Cut a few more today and really liking it
