The first camera I used was an old Nikon. It took beautiful shots! I mean, just perfect, but it was only 8 mp. I had to replace it if I ever wanted to crop. I was sad. I went through 3 of those. My brother broke one. I gave the other 2 to my daughter to play with. That is frustrating when you can't replace old stuff with new stuff. Should be easy to find better stuff now when it comes to tech but companies tend to get cheaper on everything instead of better. I do not really do any cropping but at 18MP these crops do not look too bad. Chuck Those look great!
Yeah, we lament every time something old breaks because you can only replace it with high priced junk!

jasoninsd rockjunquie Every picture I have posted here on RTH from jewelry to tumbles has been taken just like this photo below shows. I recently swapped the desk lamp to another swing arm. Very crude yet somehow produces some pretty killer photos. And this is the camera which was under $500 nine years ago. I have tried to replace it three times including two DSLR cameras and could never get pictures that I thought compared. You would be even more surprised if I showed you how bad of condition the camera is in. LCD screen is almost not legible and a few bad scratches on the lens. Well over 10,000 pictures taken. www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-hx200vChuck Chuck, thank you SO much for posting this. I'm pretty sure I wasn't within the first twenty times you've been asked...and I'm sure this won't be the last time you're asked. Thank you for having the patience with us (me!) and once again posting your "secrets"!
