They are all gorgeous, but those last three! Wow, great detail. Nice photos & beautiful shine, thanks for sharing.

As always Chuck, I'm cleaning drool off my keyboard after looking at your work! If it's not too much of a pain in the tail, is there any chance you would be willing to post a picture of your "picture taking setup"? I'm not worried about the camera you're using (which takes amazing pics), because I'm stuck with what I have, but I'm interested in seeing how you stage the photo...and knowing what light bulbs you're using...

Great rocks, great polish and as always great pictures to capture all the amazing detail. I keep repeating my self and wondering about the formation process, mind-boggling.

The camera is a 9 year old point and shoot and the lighting is (2) $20 ikea swing arm lights with LED bulbs mounted to a messy workbench. Chuck

jasoninsd rockjunquieEvery picture I have posted here on RTH from jewelry to tumbles has been taken just like this photo below shows. I recently swapped the desk lamp to another swing arm. Very crude yet somehow produces some pretty killer photos. And this is the camera which was under $500 nine years ago. I have tried to replace it three times including two DSLR cameras and could never get pictures that I thought compared. You would be even more surprised if I showed you how bad of condition the camera is in. LCD screen is almost not legible and a few bad scratches on the lens. Well over 10,000 pictures taken. www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-hx200vChuck

Either too much or too little.

Either too much or too little. This same model of camera has two newer versions and I bought the latest one because I really need to replace mine but the latest one did not produce as good of photos. I should add I shoot every photo in auto mode. The only thing I change is one exposure setting and I change it the same every time so it is very repeatable. I will probably turn to ebay and grab another one soon that hopefully has not been as badly abused as mine. Chuck

I mean, just perfect, but it was only 8 mp. I had to replace it if I ever wanted to crop. I was sad. I went through 3 of those. My brother broke one. I gave the other 2 to my daughter to play with.

That is frustrating when you can't replace old stuff with new stuff. Should be easy to find better stuff now when it comes to tech but companies tend to get cheaper on everything instead of better. I do not really do any cropping but at 18MP these crops do not look too bad. Chuck
