Here is the big piece of mystery petwood I've been working on for quite awhile. It started out at 230 grams (bit over 1/2 lb) and ended up polished at 200 grams (bit under 1/2 lb). A detailed photo-journal of it from everytime I opened the barrel is posted in another thread. Recipe: 42 days 60/90 8 days 120/220 9 days 500F 12 days CPP 1/2 day in ivory soap shavings Rough: Out of polish: Another shot: The other side, rough: The other side, polished: And a final shot of the big piece along with the rest of its family (tumbled in several previous batches), as they all came from one single original chunk. I still have no idea what caused the pattern on these, I've only ever found one other (much smaller) piece like it. Thanks for looking!

That qualifies as a success. Nice family. What size barrel did you tumble that monster in??

Wow! What a change! I love it when rocks look nothing like what they did in the rough

very nice RS, I've wanted to try the bigger rocks in my 6lber but always chicken out, thinking they wont get anywhere. Now maybe I'll give it a go. Very nice shine BTW

The pattern almost looks like cracked dry mud, ya know? Very special and nicely tumbled RS! Marian

Rolling-
You really did a great job there. I think that's a great show piece there. Make room on the mantle for that beauty.

This would go so well with KD's green KrazyCab! Assuming that Dragon eye wins! dragon eye & dragon skin! Amazing results

I have seen patterns like that on some of my pet wood also...not sure what causes it..just figured it was something in the wood/ground it layed in for thousands of years... Very nice job on those...

So thats what petrified Dragon looks like. The shine is awsome. If you don't have room on your mantel I'll happily provide my address and give you visiting rights.
