I am very new at this and I made a wire wrapped necklace for my mother. I made the cabachon and found the rock for it as well and just want some honest criticism for my second cabachon I made. My girlfriend took the photography so I feel I should mention that as well. I apologize for no photo of the cabachon by itself, I found this forum after the necklace was made and wouldn't want to take it apart. The cabachon is made from Peridotite I found from Garlock, CA.    I feel I did pretty alright for my first real cabachon, but still I'm very new at this so I know I have a lot of improving to do. Any and all critique is appreciated  |

Pretty necklace. Self collected makes it even better. I think the cab looks fine. |

For your first one, it looks great! Kudos on a really nice necklace, too.
How did you do your first cab? Do you have access to cabbing equipment or did you shape it with a Dremel or some such and then polish it in your tumbler?

I think you will make your Mom very happy. I don't wear pendants, but wonder if the larger stone would be more comfortable higher up on the chain? Otherwise, it might swing like a wrecking ball.

How did you do your first cab? Do you have access to cabbing equipment or did you shape it with a Dremel or some such and then polish it in your tumbler?
Yeah I’m a member of the local rock club and they have a workshop with a cabbing machine so I used that, but I just recently got a dremel so I’ll start using the dremel to make them as well until I get my own cabbing machine for my at home workshop! |

I know nothing about cabbing, except looking at others pictures.
I think the stone is pretty. And, I assume you know the type of jewelry your mother likes...
So I'd bet she's gonna LOVE it!
