Decided to run a video of the Obsidian that has been collected from "Glass Buttes" Oregon (My favorite hounding spot) ... Some will go into my personal collecting..

Mike, I'm about to work on some Obsidian cabs...you've given me some incentive! I've got some Flow-Banded and Mahogany pieces in the mix. There's some beautiful pieces in that video!  |

I'm not 100% but I think it came from Eric arghvark. Although I have gotten some obsidian from Walt in the past. |

Mike, is it the "norm" in Mahogany Obsidian to get a sheen to the mahogany color? I worked a cab earlier and I get an iridescent effect on parts of it when turned the right way in the light...similar to Tiger Eye.

You can have Gold Sheen with the Mahogany and it will do that. If it doesn't have the Gold Sheen it will just be plain Mahogany. That's what's so much fun about Glass Buttes. All those characteristics can get combined. Single flow, double flow, triple flow, gold sheen, silver sheen, red ribbon, fire obsidian, etc. So cool. |

My favorite area there in the Tri flow pit up on the hill way back towards the fence line...
Not many people get back there ..

I just so happen to have a pic of the stuff. I was trying to make a long spear head out of it and broke it. So I’m doing to try to repurpose it into cabochons. |
