Newly-mined Crazy Lace that looks like old-stock Crazy Lace. Don't you think, victor1941 ? It looks like it belongs with some of your material from the 1970s. Royal Imperial Jasper (Mexico) Ohio Flint Red Lightning agate (Mexico)

Thanks, Brent. I am developing a fair bit of patience when working the cabs on the resin wheels. As you know, a good polish starts with getting all the scratches out on the 220 or 280 resin wheel. If I am meticulous at that stage, the polish takes care of itself.

Gorgeous! I'm really liking that red lightning. I just marked some out last night and can't wait to cab it.

Gorgeous! I'm really liking that red lightning. I just marked some out last night and can't wait to cab it. Did I send you a slab of that? A lot of red lightening agate has too much moss and not enough white, in which case it's just another red moss agate. I like the stuff with a lot of white and a little bit of red moss accents.

Holajonthan, the cabs are excellent and the lace cabs look very much like the material I looked for in the 70's. I especially like patterns and colors and a lot of the material available in the piles didn't interest me. I am probably like you in that I am very selective in what I bought and worked.

Some areas of moss are very solid (like my cab), and other spots look like they will undercut

Thanks, Victor. I wish I could be more selective when buying rocks, but there are no rock shops anywhere near SE Michigan, so I buy 90% of my rocks online. Even when I am able to get photos of specific pieces of rough before I buy them, it's hard to tell what a rock is all about until you've got it in your hand. Even then, rocks don't give up all their secrets until you slab them. I try to buy good material, but what I end up with is a mixed bag. I slab everything that looks somewhat promising, but I am selective about what I cab. If I am going to spend 45 to 60 minutes making a cab, I have to really like it. Mexico sure does have a wide variety of beautiful lapidary materials.

Another fantastic batch of cabs. The polish you're getting on your material is top-notch! I love that RIJ the best...mostly for the shape you chose. Fantastic job on all of them.

That shape is from one of the templates I got from Etsy -- from the same seller you recommended. I like those templates, except the type of plastic they are made from seems to generate a ton of static electricity. Did you notice that also? Dirt and dust stick to them like a magnet, which is just sort of annoying.

I'm going to have to look for that one...I need some more shapes. LOL I have not had any issues with static electricity with mine. That's interesting...I wonder if she changed her source on the plastic...

jasoninsdMaybe it's because I've got them stuck together with a bunch of metal templates, and the sliding back and forth against metal is what does it. I probably deviated from the template a little bit to maximize the size of the cab. It is from this rock, and all the slabs have a lot of fractures and green staining that I have to work around.

A CS second generation 2020 iphone is my camera and does a excellent job on most material. Most of my material is not hard to focus but some may require different light or stone orientation.

Beautiful cabs and I love the red theme going through that batch! I have to agree with the others that the red lightning is a stand out!
