Holy Toledo that rainbow velvet is so cool. Awesome work as usual. I imagine your sister gets one of these...?
Now that Obsidian isn't a challenge what's the next challenge?

I would've texted you these pictures, but I didn't want you to drop your phone! LOL Yes, my sister will get a wrap from the Velvet. I don't know if it'll be one of these or one of the others waiting in the wings... Obsidian is still going to be a challenge. I cut some preform shapes I've never done before...and two of them have an inside swoop. Probably a dumb idea to try something that new with obsidian...but I do dumb things all the time! LOL My next challenge will be to see if I can work Silver Lace Onyx without it orange peeling. In fact, I'm working on some right now...well...not now because I'm typing...

Great info, for sure, on the link about the disk gouges and scratches on the Obsidian. Thank you.

Thank you for the tag. These are fantastic! Obsidian is so bad a** when you get the hang of it!

Oh my! I don’t know what to say other than they look absolutely perfect. As much as I like that Royal Velvet, the patterns and shine you were able to bring out in all of those varieties makes them just as impressive.
The cabber reflection photo is unbelievable.

Great info, for sure, on the link about the disk gouges and scratches on the Obsidian. Thank you. You're more than welcome Terry. There's several other threads about Obsidian...mostly in the tumbling section though, I think. You're killing me Smalls, you're killing me! Thanks Bry! I freakin' love that movie! LOL Thank you for the tag. These are fantastic! Obsidian is so bad a** when you get the hang of it! Thanks Ali! I thought maybe you'd like to see them. If I can continue the trend, it might become one of my favorites to work! Oh my! I don’t know what to say other than they look absolutely perfect. As much as I like that Royal Velvet, the patterns and shine you were able to bring out in all of those varieties makes them just as impressive. The cabber reflection photo is unbelievable. Thank you so much Brian! It's definitely a fun material to work...and even more fun seeing the reflections when I get it right. I am going to send that picture to Kingsley North today.

I know it's one of my favorites which I realized it's probably because I love glass. The velvet makes me drool

LOL I've got a bunch of stuff dopped and ready to go...including some more Obsidian...which may jump to the front of the line again. LOL

Dude, you didn't get the scratches out. I'm joking. The first couple look like they've got a little but of smeared fingerprint on them, not scratches. It's really hard to keep the fingerprints off cabs that shiny since you've got to really grab ahold of them to keep them from slipping out of your fingers. #6 looks like a psychedelic / hypnotic portal. Incredible. I've got a soft spot for the snowflake as well. How's that cerium polishing pad holding up? Tell me it's still going strong and I'm buying one today!

Incredible. I've got a soft spot for the snowflake as well. How's that cerium polishing pad holding up? Tell me it's still going strong and I'm buying one today! Thanks Jonathan! Believe it or not, the only thing on the surface of those first two cabs is reflections. I think what you're seeing as a "smudge" is part of the picture on the wall. I actually have a process before I take pictures. I do the backs of the cabs all at the same time for each "batch" of cabs I make. Then they get put in a bowl and washed in hot soapy water. I then wash my hands while those are in the bowl. Then I take the cabs out and place them on a towel. I "pat" them dry and dry my hands at the same time. Once I've patted them dry, I use the towel to "buff" them. Then I take them over to the table to take pictures. By washing my hands, they are free of any dirt or oils...that way I don't leave fingerprints for pictures... I'm going to have to get some more snowflake...this kind...not the frozen rain kind! LOL - I've only got a handful, and I just discovered the other night some of them have fractures in the sides. The cerium pad is working like a charm. I'm seeing no indication of any wear or tear on it... Thank you so very much!

I’m trying to talk Jason into working some jade. jasoninsd those are all amazing, especially the velvet. The mahogany and flow-banded are pretty awesome too ETA 6 and 7 are getting a lot of love (deservedly so), but #5 is right up there.

If...and that's a BIG IF...the weather holds for tomorrow (hopefully it'll get up to 42 degrees! LOL), I'm going to cut some preforms: Big Sur Jade and Victorville Black Jade...amongst some others...
