What does propagation have to do with a thread being deleted? What is propagation in relation to computers? This had nothing to do with the deleted C-WORD thread and everything to do with what I said in the first post of this C-NAME thread but with the forum down for everyone except me apparently, nobody could see this thread explaining it Propagation is the process of internet servers around the world learning a new site location when a changes has been made on it locally. This was supposed to be a super quick configuration change but my domain host Dreamhost threw an unexpected curve ball. It took simultaneous help of a Proboards Admin and a live chat with a techie at Dreamhost to get it sorted out and once my initial attempt was deleted and reconfigured correctly we all came back up at roughly at the same time.

To those of you experiencing withdrawals in such a short time, just imagine if this had gone along a bit longer. A day? A week? God forbid, a month? Longer? Maybe stock up on some antianxiety meds... ETA - With that said, A BIG thank you to Tommy for getting it fixed before anybody had a meltdown, lol.

Can say the same for you. Get a sense of humor. Did it strike too close to home? It was meant to be humorous. Perhaps you need to not read bad intent into other's posts. I pretty much find everybody on this forum humorous, some more than others. No lack of sense of humor on my part.

I had the same thing happen on Thanksgiving! It took me to proboards saying that the RTH didn't exist!!! I may or may not have panicked internally and externally. I recall reading a thread with someone saying that if we lost funding, this website could just disappear. Needless to say, I was super happy when it came back on yesterday!

ETA - With that said, A BIG thank you to Tommy for getting it fixed before anybody had a meltdown, lol. I was thinking about this for awhile today, because in a way you are right. It was a temporary painful mental habit that I had to kick out yesterday. I would like to think most here, who are posting their finds, experiences, who are asking questions of those more experienced, aren't going thru some implied withdrawals. It was annoying because for me at least, this is my playground for the first time in a long time, and there was a wtf moment. Where are the friends and discussions I've grown accustomed to? So yes you are right, it would have stung possibly more had it gone on a week, or god forbid a month. I would have inquired, checked on the status of things. I'm passionate about this hobby and am glad to have found this community which I never knew existed, but that doesn't mean I'm solely relying on RTH to be my all. It's one hell of an escape from the real world and a pleasure to check in on and it would be sorely missed if something went awry.
Sorry if it sounds a rant against you rockpickerforever , it ain't. More of a reflection of why I was perturbed yesterday.

No worries, Chad Son Of Beach , I didn't take it that way. I've been there, too, when this forum (and playing with rocks!) played a larger part of my life. I at one time spent a lot of my days (and nights!) here, perusing the forum, and carrying on with friends. I still have rocks all over my home and patio, I'm just not actively working on anything right now. It's fun and exciting, keeps one out of trouble, and you can't find better people than RTHlings. FYI - Rich parfive is another person I'll bet you didn't know has made some gorgeous cabs in the past!

I'll dig around again, a lot of the photos are blocked on my work pc, so there is a good chance I just can't see them....

Without propagation, where would we get our new computers and tablets? Hehe.
I’ve been very addicted to the site in the past, and it sure is a good group of people.

There should be an Emergency Phone number posted in case the site goes down so people do not lose all hope and harm themselves or start throwing rocks. I do hope that the entire site is backed up somewhere. Way to much valuable information to be lost if someone forgets to pay the light bill.

Vitamin D is a wonderful thing! Hard to find without sunlight in some parts of the country right now. I do not miss winter in the Midwest.

rockpickerforever Whoa, that came outta nowhere. Can’t say I’m blushing, Jean, but thanks for the tip o’ the hat. : ) Rich, I suppose I should fill you in on the reason behind that post. It was in response to Son Of Beach post (below) in response to Tommy 's thread from May 7, 2016 Photo collage - May cabs part 1 (large photo warning)Been a slow one at work, been perusing posts by the old guard. Wanted to bump this art gallery, maybe save someone else the search. I didn't know Tommy did anything but moderate Unless new members go digging in the archives (nothing wrong with that, in fact, I encourage you to do so!), they have no idea that some of the old guard used to actually do lapidary work! Not taking anything away from that statement, or your work (which was superb, BTW), but you were just the first person I thought of that fit the bill. There are many others, myself included, that are no longer pumping out and posting beaucoup cabs these days. I wanted to give Chad a link to the thread Jo NatureNut put up years ago (March 2013) showcasing some of the member's handiworks. She did it (six pages worth!) for the ten year RTH anniversary. LINK to that wonderful thread! Take a stroll down memory lane, lot of great memories there. The first two are of Mark (that created this forum, predecessor to Tommy) and John Sands, RIP, who is sincerely missed. PS - If you don't want to look at old threads, just don't go there! Happy New Year everyone!
