I live in a moderate climate and work outside. Weather was in the low thirties but has warmed up to the mid 50's. I need 60+ degrees to grind. Did some trim saw work. Stuff from Blairrock; Linda Marie, Butterly, Crazy Lace, Flame agate. Three Montana from the rough I slabbed. I have 6 preforms already dopped and will work on those first when it warms up.

I'll be on the lookout to see how that Linda Marie comes out for you. I got some material a LONG time ago (for me) that was labeled as Linda Marie. I worked some back in the beginning of my cabbing journey, but it was SO uneven on the hardness levels, I had a real hard time working it...and was totally unsuccessful as a matter of fact. It's been sitting there ever since!

I've made 2. One some years ago and one early 2021. I don't remember any difficulties. This slab was small and $5.75. I should get a good return.

jasoninsdI have had the same problem with Linda Marie undercutting. I have tried the material from different sources but end with the same disappointing results. It kills me because I've seen in person the results that are possible. I have a piece of rough with the Xmas tree pattern and when I get the time I am going to try capping it with clear quartz. Good luck

Good luck I can definitely see this material getting capped. The stuff that I've got is SO busy and jam-packed with a myriad of different materials, that I don't think I'm going to be able to stop the undercutting...

I had a nodule that wouldn't stay in the vise, but I got a partial cut. I glued it to a board with wood glue and waited two days which wasn't long enough. I used the trim saw to complete the cut. I trimmed the one on the left and then cut away the skinned bottom making a slab. The pattern doesn't go all the way through but there will be enough left after doming.

I got a slab grabber a while back and haven't used it much. It works well making slabs from heels. I got a freebie Bull Canyon heel from Blairrocks and made a slab and a preform.
