Thanks again! Yeah...the "new" cabbing machine might be new with regards to how long I've had it...but I've definitely put the hours in on it...so I'm not too sure how much longer I can still call it "new"! LOL Mine was called "New" before I was born soooo... When I took the sic wheel off, it said star diamond, which I'm pretty dang sure shut down in the seventies and this one looked older. The original motor should be in an American history museum! đ Don't tell me "perskins17" means you're 17 years old... I have nothing against 17 year olds. You'd just be making me jealous because I wish I had started cabbing two decades ago!

Wow, that Blue Lace Agate is just gorgeous and wins hands down in terms of jewelry potential. I can see why that stuff is popular and commands a premium price. #4 also caught my eye. It looks like an abstract-impressionist landscape scene of some sort.
Is #6 from the Cabtopia template? Looks like one I've got. That shape works very well for that cab, just as the teardrop works well in #8.
#3 looks like a tooth from a very large and colorful animal.
You know what's worse than an orange-peel or lime-peel finish? An avocado-peel finish.

No, I'm not 17, I wish I was! I was born on the seventeenth so it's kind of my lucky number. đ

Awesome work jasoninsd. Good job getting out of the comfort zone. As for the jade, there are two kinds of textures you can get. One is a little bit âropyâ (for the lack of a better terms), showing the fibrous structure, but giving a uniform polish. I was told that this is not orange peeling. The other, which is orange peeling gives rise to amorphous pits, which do not polish. Probably lapidaries will argue about the difference, just like theyâll argue about jasper vs chert. They look good to me, but if youâre unhappy with it, try again when your wheels are a bit more worn (given the pace youâre going, and the material youâre working, thatâll probably be a week or so, LOL). Use little or no water for the polishing steps.

I'll agree, that Blue Lace really is beautiful material...it's very intricate with regards to the patterning. #6 is from that template. I didn't want to use the "inside swoop" side, so I drew a straight line. I like the shape. Those jade pieces may have bordered on Avocado peel! LOL Awesome work jasoninsd . When I was successfully working obsidian after a couple weeks, I wondered if they were "worn in" at that point! LOL

Excellent craftsmanship jasoninsd!! Sorry to hear there some pitting issues in the Morroccan jaspers... wasn't my intent to send problem material to ya. But obviously you have enough talent to overcome! Great job!

But obviously you have enough talent to overcome! Great job! Oh gosh...if that came across as complaining, it really was not intended that way! I am super grateful for the material. I just wanted to put that down in case anyone was considering getting some. I still have a chunk that I haven't slabbed yet. I completely think this material is worth working! I don't think a lot of material is "worth" stabilizing, but I think this material would be!
