I tried to tone down the pictures to a more manageable number for this thread...I said "tried"! LOL Super big thanks to oldschoolrocker. Also, a massive thanks to Stephan for the material as well as the "push" on the Jade to get me out of my comfort zone. As always, thanks for taking a gander and comments and critiques are always welcome. Pics 1-2: Moroccan Jasper/Agate. This material came from @oldscoolrocker as the extra prize for November's cab challenge. I love how busy this material is. It does seem to have a tendency to produce pitting out of seemingly nowhere...but I think the overall look of the material warrants working through the flaws. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pics 3-5: Moroccan Green Jasper. This material also came from @oldscoolrocker as the extra prize for November's cab challenge. This material really threw me for an ID loop. When I was cutting it, all I could think of was how much it reminded me of Gary Green! Even the first two cabs pictured looks like Gary Green to me. Then, the third cab pictured totally reminds my of Fancy Jasper! There are some micro-pits. I didn't want to keep grinding last them, as they seem to be inherent to the material...I didn't want to discover more. Again, this material is well worth the effort! Pic3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pics 6-8: Blue Lace Agate. This material came from stephan awhile ago. This material takes a fantastic polish. It's interesting as there are these "micro" druzy pockets that also appear out of seemingly nowhere. Definitely not worth trying to grind past them as they run throughout this material. Gorgeous tones and pattern in this material. Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8 Pics 9-10: Big Sur Jade. Another material from stephan . This was the first Jade I've worked. It does have a surface texture to it, but did take a nice polish. Worked on the Nova wheels, then onto the flat lap buffing pad with 14k diamond paste. Pic 9 Pic 10 Pic 11: Black Jade. This could either be Victorville or Stoddard Wells. Also from stephan . This Jade also has a surface texture...and is super dark green compared to the Big Sur...but it too took a nice polish. Same steps as the Big Sur. Pic 11

Nice looking cabs! You did a good job with that jade. Thanks Tela! I don't think I'd put Jade on my top 10 list of favorite material to work. I'm glad I worked it and have a better understanding of it though!

Kudos on trying out the new materials. Any tips for the jade or that you'll do different next time? Never tried myself.

Nice cabs jasoninsd! Those look absolutely awesome. Do you perchance like the teardrop shape? Lol! That Jade looks great. No orange peeling or anything! I can't pick a favorite. Great job.

Kudos on trying out the new materials. Any tips for the jade or that you'll do different next time? Never tried myself. Thanks Alex! As far as tips...I did a bit of reading on the forum, and the consensus seemed to be to let it get hot. I didn't want to work it on the Nova wheels without water, so it became an "it is what it is" thing. I was told SiC wheels are better for working Jade as they stand up to working without water better than the diamond wheels. When I ran it on the flat lap to buff it, I let it get screaming hot! That did seem to smooth out the surface texture somewhat...I shouldn't say seem...it definitely did. Nice cabs jasoninsd ! Those look absolutely awesome. Do you perchance like the teardrop shape? Lol! That Jade looks great. No orange peeling or anything! I can't pick a favorite. Great job. Thanks Perk! I'm not too sure how I feel about the teardrop shape...I might have to work a couple hundred more of that shape just to be sure! The Jade did not orange peel at all...just a "texture" to the surface. Of course because of the color, I tried to avoid lime peeling too! LOL

Lol! I'll help you test that! 😏 They look awesome. I don't see any lime peeling either, or grapefruit peeling! You're really putting the cabber through the wringer lol!

Yeah...the "new" cabbing machine might be new with regards to how long I've had it...but I've definitely put the hours in on it...so I'm not too sure how much longer I can still call it "new"! LOL

Great job Jasoninsd. Does your RTH handle stand for Jason in South Dakota? Let the teardrops take center stage!

The original motor should be in an American history museum! 😂

Great job Jasoninsd. Does your RTH handle stand for Jason in South Dakota? Let the teardrops take center stage! Thanks Victor! It does indeed stand for Jason in South Dakota. I'm sure there's more than one Jason in South Dakota...but they're not on here. Thanks again! I'd like to thank oldschoolrocker and stephan as well for gifting you this beautiful material, so you can get your magic hands on them. Nice work! I really like that Moroccan Green Jasper, you captured some really nice colors and patterns in those cabs! And the Jade, that stuff has a really cool looking finish on it. Makes me want to touch it. Sorry if I made your life more difficult with posting these threads. Though, I really enjoyed this layout and still can't stop going back and checking out the pics over and over.

Another beautiful batch of cabs, Jason!
I hate to tell you this, but the texture on the Jade is orange peel. You can see it pretty good in the reflection on the Big Sur. It's not horrible orange peel, but it is there. You got a great polish on them, too!
Do you remember what grit you were on when you first noticed the orange peel? I'm just wondering if was in the higher grits and if so, I'm wondering what type of result you'd get if you stopped at the grit before that and went right to polish and got it screaming hot. Sorry, just rambling .....

Yeah...I liked that Moroccan Green Jasper after the first cut I got on it when I was slabbing it. It seems like a "chameleon" material! LOL You made NOTHING harder on me...and I mean that every way you can take that! LOL - I think I like this layout too. It just took a couple more painstaking minutes to rearrange everything after posting it. LOL Another beautiful batch of cabs, Jason!

I even took it back to the 220 hard to "start over" as I thought I had maybe used too much pressure on the 280...but it came right back on the 280 when I went back to it...

The Moroccans are very nice, not a jade fan but I think they turned out very nice from my untrained eye.
2 for 2 for not repeating myself, 😁.

Pretty fun material, both for the looks and the way it works. I'll be honest...I'm not really a jade fan (as of yet) either.
