1. Rhodonite — 34 x 26 mm
2. Unknown — 34 x 26 mm I don't know where I acquired the small slab for this, so I'm not sure what it is. Reminds me of a slab of Brazilian agate I used to have.
2. Imperial Jasper — 34 x 26 mm
3. Magneprase — 30 x 26 mm
4. Prueheart Lace — 17 x 16 mm
5. Olympic Poppy trio — tallest is 25 x 21 mm The center guy appears to have a small crack. Thanks, camera.
6. Bench Bum #1 — 25 x 7 mm What's a bench bum? Well, this little boulder opal has just been sitting around for months not doing anything. It has a fair number of ironstone spots peaking through. Now that I've posted this I really need to do something with it.
6. Bench Bum #2 — 29 x 24 mm This was an opal split that needed a little ironstone "dirt" removed by my ultrasonic cleaner. Its height varies from 4 to 7 mm. Despite it being a split, it had looked like the miner or a middleman might have worked an area of about 30% to clean it, so I had to polish that out. The fire is green and kind of so-so, but it's a nice hunk of opal. It needs to be in metal.

Nice on all, but the Unknown and Prueheart Lace are my favorites.

Beautiful cabs, Gary! Love the opals, of course, but I really love that Imperial Jasper. It looks like jellyfish swimming around in there.

Nice work, Gary. The Magneprase really caught my eye.
The Prueheart Lace twins are lookers as well.
#2 sure looks like a Brazilian agate to me as well.

Hiya' Gary.
My first thought on #2 was Brazilian.
Nice boulder opals. The Ironstone in the first one is just enough to give it some "character".

Thank you all for your nice comments. With holajonathan 's and hummingbirdstones2's reaction to the unknown cab as 'likely Brazilian', I think I can confidently refer to it as likely that. It's always fun to read your comments. I sometimes borrow your phrases when writing up and posting online descriptions, and for that I am grateful. My "cracked" OP cab may be. The 'line' in the photo is actually a string of tiny interrupted fissures. I'll recut the dome and hope for the best.

I love the way you framed the unknown cab. It looks perfect.
The Imperial is beautiful, too. And so are the rest for that matter.

My first thought* on #2 was tadpole and I also like the Prueheart pair. Will we see the earrings soon?
* not really, but polite doesn’t hurt once in a while : )

I really like the pruheart pair, but I'm a sucker for OP, too. I like the shapes, too.

I have to admit that I had somewhat similar observations after cutting it. As for the earring pair, I'm going to try to sell them. If they don't move I'll probably make a pair with them.

Nice batch Gary! #2, you know, the could be, maybe, probably, potentially, looks like, resembles Brazilian is my favorite! Not just for the beauty of the shape and polish on that one, but that picture makes it look to me like some traditional African Mask! I'm going to have to add Magneprase to my "to get" list!

Beautiful cabs Gary, your composition is perfect on all of them. Thanks for the new phrase haha I've got a bunch of bench bums laying around enjoying free rent.

Thank you, Tommy.
The bench bums really aren't my worst offenders. That's reserved for the miscellaneous slabs hanging around and simply helping to hold down the bench.

Magneprase is my sure winner! All the cabs are striking but the last opal is also striking.
