So, I've told a few people this but probably forgot others. After 24 years of selling advertising for a radio station I'm moving on. I'm starting a new job in about a week at a bank where I live. Not much more money to start, but I'll have benefits- which we've been without for the last eight or so years. Plus more opportunity I think.
Anyway, I won't be around here as much, especially in the beginning since I should probably focus on work... It's a bit nerve-wracking changing careers at almost 55 but I think I'm ready for the challenge.
Thanks for looking listening.

Even bankers need to clear their head and take a walk in the wide open spaces once in awhile. Plus they have deep pockets and hence can carry bigger rocks than the rest of us. Best of luck in the new job.

Congrats on moving on up to the benny side. Bennies make you feel better. They give you more security. I'm so happy for you and at the same time I can understand your reservations- I'm sure it is a huge step filled with questions and what ifs, but I'm sure it will work out for you.

I'm starting a new job in about a week at a bank where I live. Not much more money to start, but I'll have benefits- which we've been without for the last eight or so years. Plus more opportunity I think. Back when my wife & I were rehabbing houses in our area, we met a wonderful young woman at the local, (then-new), Home Depot. She helped us out a tremendous amount and we quickly became friends. After pretty much hitting the glass ceiling at H.D., she quit and took a entry-level job as a teller at a local bank. (Coincidentally, the branch that I regularly used.) Anyway, the short of the story is that she was promoted last year to branch manager of that particular branch and is being groomed for further advancement. So, you never really know just what opportunities are open to you simply by making a change.
Good luck to you in your career change!

Good for you Mike!
I did the same thing last year. After 30 yrs in the paper mill and watching machinery get scrapped or sold slowly over the last 10 or so I quit and moved on.
It was a bit daunting, spending my whole adult life working there, but it was the best thing I've done in many years.
Coincidentally having Ali's love and support was a tremendous help and I can't say enough good things about it.
Wishing you all the best!
