Wishing you success in your new adventure. It is important to protect the family in a very fast changing society and change is sometime forced on us. If you could see our healthcare bills you would know that you are making a good long term decision.

Congrats, Mike! You are a smart guy and obviously have the people skills if you were selling advertising, so this should be a different, but easy transition for you.
A few things I've learned over the years when I've changed jobs is to be a sponge the first few weeks and soak up everything you can about the job. If you can, find yourself a mentor who is willing to show you the ins and outs and give you the inside scoop on stuff. You'll pick it up in no time and feel like you've been there forever.
Having bennies is a great plus!

Thanks Robin! I guess they have really good support and welcome questions, so that's good. And I don't know about smart...but thanks! 😁

Thanksgiving Day of 2010 I started my F&B career that I didn't want but options were limited. Started as a dishwasher for minimum wage.
12 years later, after line cooking, fine dining, bakery work, banquet work etc, I finally hit Sous Chef status. I'm 51 now and have more opportunities at my feet with a simple job change. They were fine matching my pay and have plans to utilize my experience.
My last job had bennies but opportunities were only available if I was willing to move. All I wanted was pay based on my responsibilities with a warning that if they screwed around I wouldn't be there to make their lives easy anymore. As of Jan 3rd, I'm at a job I love and look forward to the opportunities it offers because of my experience.
You could be on a road you didn't expect to be on that leads you to bigger and better things. Take that opportunity and own that sh@+!

I really am excited for you my friend! Don't be afraid of the "what ifs?"!! - What if this is the best job you've ever had? - What if you meet some amazing new friends? - What if some of the customers are rockhounds you never knew about? - What if you do so well, you become bank president and are making hand over fist and decide to buy all RTH members new tumblers for Christmas? LOL I have all the best of wishes for you!

So, I've told a few people this but probably forgot others. After 24 years of selling advertising for a radio station I'm moving on. I'm starting a new job in about a week at a bank where I live. Not much more money to start, but I'll have benefits- which we've been without for the last eight or so years. Plus more opportunity I think.
Anyway, I won't be around here as much, especially in the beginning since I should probably focus on work... It's a bit nerve-wracking changing careers at almost 55 but I think I'm ready for the challenge.
Thanks for looking listening.
Good luck !
