LOL why do I have the feeling the turkey might taste a bit like rock dust tomorrow? I don't know what that is but it sure is pretty, and you look like you are having fun with your new toy!

Cher, That's a Geode from Utah! I'm hoping to get back there in March with Gaetz when we go there during Spring Break. Looks like you're having fun....I especially like Thundereggs and Geodes, because they're always different and full of suprises! Thanks for the pics Cher. Steve

Kim, I sent some of both (geodes and Petrified Wood) Cher, maybe you can take a pic of the outside...because it does appear to have grain, like wood would. Maybe it is a piece of the Pet Wood. If it is a piece of the Pet Wood...that s Totally Cool! Steve

The outside was kind of whitish, almost like it has a thick powder covering it. I'll grab a pic when I get home later.

That is really sweet you guys. Steve, if you've got a secret spot to find stuff like that, I'll be marking my March 06 calendar right now. That is AWESOME!!!!!!
Don't they look like a pair of scary monster eyes?
I want more picts,

Exceptional pieces Cher, though if you're serving them up for dinner I'll just take mine to go!
And I must admit, I rushed the stuffing preparation last night so I could get to the lap to make some more cabs!

Ok, here's pics of the outside of this geode. I think it looks like it could be a piece of pet wood. The grain around the crystal center looks just like the grain you'd see around a knot hole. What'cha think? And a close up ...

From all indications, it sure looks like a geode to me. Have you cut them all in half yet? I've really had a good time with the one's I broke up and put in my tumbler. I think they are going to turn out really nicely. They were huge to begin with which left me some great material to tumble. I tried to chisel out most of the crystaline "guts" to speed things along but it was hard to do so we'll see. What are you going to do with them? Do you have enough to "sacrifice" one for the tumbler?
Anyway, they look really neat and I'm excited to see what you do with them.

I just cut the one in half (first page of this post) but we're wondering if it could possibly be a petrified wood geode. Sure looks like wood grain to me. I'll say one thing, I can see why people look for them, they are so much fun to cut open.

That looks like a petrified wood geode to me. Not that I ever saw a petrified wood geode but if I did I bet that's what it would look like.

Cher, I'm very baffled...and very Upset that I didn't mark any of the material I sent. I just started putting stuff in. I know I sent only one Geode, and one ThunderEgg, lots of Wood, Jasper, and a few Agates. Sorry I didn't label the material. KICKING MYSELF IN THE AARSS! Gaetz....Mark your calender than buddy! Last time I went down, my brother and I ran into a seam of Geodes the size of softballs, and dug enough to fill a 5 gallon bucket in about 30 minutes. Couldn't believe it! I'll also show you our secret dig we've been working for about 7 years for some great Sherry Topaz! Last week of March!!! Steve

Steve-
March sounds good to me. As for the geodes, have you ever whacked and tumbled them? The rock pictured sure looks like a geode to me. All the geodes I've seen have the characteristic whitish covering with the bumpy, tumorish nodules.
