I believe you mean the 220 soft wheel. Yes, I use it and several others do, too. I swear by it. Yup, DP isn't making them anymore But, Johnson Bros has their brand that I got. I think they call it a Super Nova. I'm not adverse to recoating and the price is right, so I'll bookmark this. Thanks!!

I buy JB because of the lower cost and they get the job done. What I don't know is which is the better value based on service life.

I bought one, but I haven't mounted it, yet. It has a nice flex to it. I don't SEE much difference, but, like I said- I haven't used it. I believe holajonathan has. Maybe he can give you a better answer.

There is a jewelry and agate shop in Beaver Bay that exclusively uses the JB wheels after they had a run of poor quality Novas They have been using them for a good while and they prefer them to the Novas

I went to the JB site and supernova wheels cost $20 more than what I previously paid. $69.95 and $89.95.

My 220 "Super Nova" from JB is working well and holding up well after 20-30 cabs. Wear and performance seem right on par with Nova wheels, but it cost about half as much.
I am currently breaking in a 600 grit "Super Nova" and my only complaint is how long it is taking to wear down the high points of the resin. In other words, it's slow to break in, which is annoying, but should bode well for longevity.

I am probably going to get a 80 grit textured wheel from JB if they have what I want at the PowWow. I won't order anything from them online.

I think you meant 220 wheel.
I just ordered something from them online. Big mistake.

What? Why are they not making them anymore? That makes me annoyed. I would guess that it just wasn't cost effective for them. They've had a real rough couple of years.

Off the cuff I would say it’s because no new machines get shipped with those wheels, so the volume is much smaller

What? Why are they not making them anymore? That makes me annoyed. I think they had a deal with Rons Rocks and that he is selling a lot less now, between all the competition and those quality issues I keep hearing about. Honestly, since I've had a genie I have had an adequate supply of 280 nova wheels from estates and stuff that I never tried the DP 220 Nova, but the people I know who love them are people who know what they're talking about more than me. rockjunquie I said 230 because that's what the rock shop in ID told me they have available, might be a typo on their part. Either way I would like to have one available for my next wheel change or a 2nd unit if I find or build one.
