Good job! My experience with labradorite has not been as good. Thank you! I broke out my emergency wheel: the 600 Nova! It saved my life here. I also think I had a lot of good fortune. 😁

I've never had much luck with labradorite, either- nice work! Thank you Mike! This one was one of the hardest ones I've worked though because of how soft it was. I could actually see the flash in the wheel as I was working!

I'll see you on the dark side of the moon...
That's a very dramatic cab. Absolutely beautiful!
I have a love hate relationship with labradorite as well. I definitely love working it, but cutting it to get the labradorescence to flash and dealing with the inherent fractures is not as fun

The whole cab had labradorescence clean through it so no issue cutting it! The fractures were bad, so I was more careful burning the glue off. It was a bit of a bear to work though.

I bought a face polished piece of it some years ago at a new age show. I cut a few slabs and the cabs lost the flash. I had a small, polished specimen that had a nice flash and slightly changed the shape and made a dome. The flash wasn't as good as the original piece. I think the thickness of the cab has something to do with the appearance and then there is the problem of getting a good picture. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/92215/labradorite-effort
