I got a small tile saw for Christmas but it comes nowhere near the size of some of the rocks I have, some are 6 or 7 inches and the 2 inches of blade that are exposed on my 7 inch tile saw do not come close to cutting these and I need a saw that can make slabs. Any good recommendations on a bigger saw? Prefferably around 12 or 14 inches. It doesn't have to be incredibly new just something that gets the job done. Any models or good websites to purchase one from would be great.

My 16inch Covington sucks. I like my 10 inch Highland Park but have some rocks that are too big. I don't want to spend $3,000 for something that won't get much use so I was considering this. chop |

$1500 for a drop saw?!? Even Chinese stuff is getting spendy. The general rule is you need 3X the height of the rock when clamped in the vice for your blade size. with a little creative setup I can squeeze 7 inches into one of my 18" saws. Sometimes if slabbing you can start by cutting from an end that's smaller and whittle a rock to size by turning as you cut, or glue up techniques. There is also this, but PPE is a MUST here.
