Good idea to run material in rotary tumbler first anyway for at least a few days to remove sharp edges that can wear the vibe tumbler bowl faster.

Vegasjames, you are correct about using a rotary first. I am making cabs only for the contest and some reshaping. I need to fill a large container(bowl) and have been using end cuts and trimmings for the partial fill with the media. The black specks/particles are bowl erosion from this tumble. As my wife says I decided to "bite the bullet" and use the barrel up quicker by filling with nonrounded material.
