Hey guys! I bought some great material from roy last month. After a few more lessons I was finally confident enough I wouldn't mess it up too badly. Let me know what you think. The material was softer than I expected it to be. If anyone has any more info on it please let me know.
Cheers, Cade

The dome looks nice and the girdle is well-angled for bezel setting.
Softer materials can be a challenge to polish. Your first photo isn't quite in focus (your fingers are, but not the cab). That is not criticism. Cameras have a hard time focusing on shiny objects, and you're not the first one to get the "finger focus" problem. Probably half of the cab photos posted here (including some of mine) are not in focus. A better focused photo would allow us to see how you did polishing this tricky material, but from what I can tell, it is a well-shaped and good looking cab, especially for only your 5th one!

Good job! Your oval is perfect.

Never cut it myself — a little concerned about its softness — but your cab looks great!
Don't forget to cut a small bevel around the bottom, outer edge. Cabs need that to prevent damage when being set in bezels or wire wrapping.

Thanks holajonathan! I tried to get a better photo of the front. Here it is in the sunlight:

Thanks holajonathan ! I tried to get a better photo of the front. Here it is in the sunlight: Focus looks better. Because I like to offer advice and not just pats on the back (although you deserve one of those, too), consider putting a slight 45 degree bevel on the edge where the girdle meets the back. That will prevent chipping, and if you ever have any of your cabs set in a bezel, the bevel makes it easier to set. The bevel need only be about 1mm wide. Just enough to eliminate the sharp edge at the bottom, which will always have a tendency to chip. Yours doesn't look badly chipped, but it's a good practice regardless.

Way to go on the 5th of many to come! I think the only "critique" I would have offered was the same thing Gary and Jonathan mentioned. You did a fantastic job on maintaining the oval shape!
