Kinda creating this as a companion thread to the current cab contest. Noticing some great discussions and education in these contest threads that gets lost so let's see if this works, might also help contest threads from going way out into the weeds.
I happened to be cutting some AZ wood yesterday and made a couple short videos. For me the videos are easier than storing and finding still pics to embed.

Close but not the same saw, it's the 18" FranTom I got in NM a while back. It's still on the porch because pretty soon I need to clear most everything off so I can put a new roof on and then grind and level the floor.

Really cool history on that first piece! That really is an awesome angle you chose for the cut on that one.

Same cool history on the second one also! When I first saw the piece, I thought those looked like dendrites. I'm glad you confirmed it! Gorgeous pattern on that one! You could definitely make out the growth rings in the upper left hand side like you pointed out. Really cool!
