Hi. My family started tumbling after my daughter got a tumbler from her Grandparents for Christmas. We are new to this and still learning the in and outs. One thing I learned is that you should be somewhat selective about what you tumble, because some rocks tumble well and some don't. That said my question is - should I tumble these 2 pieces of blue lace agate? PicturesThese 2 were in a pound of blue lace agate we bought. They are mainly crystal formations with little to no blue sections. I am concerned they will just break up in the tumbler and not create polished stones? What do y'all think? Any advice/suggestions are appreciated!! Cheers, Dillon

I would. Hard to tell from the pics but there looks like there may be some fracture action going on. Maybe they will tumble past that if run long enough.

They will probably tumble up nicely. I would try it. They are about Mohs 7 so pretty dang hard. Go for it, agate is one of the best starter materials. Good luck.

The more they over-think the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the toilet.

Welcome from Charles Town WV. (Think John Brown's pre-Civil War raid.) Like you and your daughter, I'm pretty new to the tumbling aspect of this hobby and am pretty much hooked. I agree with perkins17 , most agates tumble well. I especially like bahia agates. The one thing that I would advise is patience.

I would take the view that they are not "blue" enough to make me want to cab them so the tumbler is where they go.

I tumble stuff like that all the time. They will turn out nicely. Variety is the spice of life.

Oh they will tumble alright. Perhaps just throw one in for starters, see how it turns out and decide if you want to run the second one.
