If that's your brother in law, tell him to get his @$$ off the paint job.
I can remember when a full size Ferrari was about 20 grand, and a Dino was 12 or 14.

Ferraris are over rated, classy looking though, Rockds. I'm with Randy, if they are handing out McClarens, i'll take a shiny silver one, please!

The heck with all those Fast Expensive cars! Just give me a beat-up 4x4 and gas for lifetime....I'd be happy. Exploring those hills and mountains, not worrying about the paint and body getting banged and dented up, and just living it all carefree! Filling the bed with all sorts of rocks and goodies....That's all I want! Steve

What's the point of owning a fast car when you can't drive it fast. Last time I checked, the speed limit was 100KM's (62 mph) and in some areas 110 km's (68mph)
I'm happy with any car with 4 wheels, as long as it's not a lemon. Who cares if it's fancy if all you're gonna do is drive it to and from work?

LOL, in texas the 'posted' limit is 70 mph and I think even faster in some of the more western states. I've been know to go well over the limit from time to time. Also there are race tracks that you can take your personal car to and race it. A friend of mine did this at the Indy 500 track.
But everyone know the real reason to have a fast and expensive car is to pick up chicks - LOL

but what if you ARE a chick? i've just always liked fast shiny cars (shiny side up, for sure). when i visited Germany, MY tourist destination was the Porsche Factory (no, i am not kidding here). I've been to drivers school and raced at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen. hubby and i were avid autocrossers for years and years.... our motto was "you can't drive a couch", so we never had fancy furniture nor clothes, but man, we always had slick rims and new rubber. and, Tmorris: this is one image of a McClaren... why buy an expensive car, when all you end up doing is working for your transport to and from work. Sorry, just the way I look at it. Here's what I drive (2004 model... but looks exactly the same as the 2005 and 2006 model). Some say it looks like a high end car, but the price tag at the time was cheaper then a little 2 door hatch back firefly. www.dominionmotors.gmcanada.com/english/vehicles/2005/chevrolet/epica/

Maybe fancy sports cars are "chick magnets" to a guy, but to me (being a girl) I find my corvette to be a wonderful "nerd repellent". Most guys don't know how to react when they see me & my car. They either stay away ('cause they know they can't afford me) or they wanna race! I just smile to myself as they quickly disappear in the rear view mirror!!!

Here we are, a generally eco-friendly bunch (except for the thousands of gallons of slurry dumped annually) and I find all this talk of Hummers appalling.
Speed limits . . . . . WHAT SPEED LIMITS? . . . . . Even if you're doin' 75 half the cars are passin' like you were standin' still. And a lot of them are on the phone!

well i'll have to honestly say that in the ms delta you don't see those much, as in not at all lol. it would certainly get alot of attention and looks. it would be a magnet for everything - kids, dogs, men, women, teenagers, muggers, purse snatchers........ you could park in any parking lot on the highway and have a 1 man/woman car show in about 10 minutes.
rich they aren't just on the phone. they are texting! blows my mind to see them typing and driving.
i get to trade my vehicle out every 2 yrs through the company. my lease was to be up in april and my husband bashed the back of it into the dumpster friday. when i called to tell them to come get it to fix the light and bumper they said they'd let me out of the lease early if i'd agree to re-lease through them. i had to make a color choice sight unseen so i hope i like it. they are swapping them later today. cleaning this one out wouldn't have been bad if it hadn't been full of rocks lol.

It's hard to have something around my home area that draws attention. When I first rebuilt my Jeep CJ7, I had a lot of trouble leaving it in a parking lot. When it's cleaned up it really is quite striking. But people can be amazing. They would walk up to it and just open the door and check it out. This happened several times and I decided an alarm was in order. I built my own alarm system. Among other things, it has two sirens under the hood, and a motorcycle alarm siren inside. If you think you're going to hotwire, you better have some good earplugs! It also has a radar system that protects a dome over the Jeep even when the top and doors are off. If you try to reach in.....! At least now when people just walk up and open the door, they close it real fast.
