Thanks to all who responded to my shining post yesterday. I really feel the RTH love. Many asked about what I was currently doing... so here is how I did this most recent batch... I started them on my DIY tumbler...60 grit SiC for 3 to 6 weeks...finished with a week of 180/220 SiC The best ones moved on to the Thumler A-R2 tumbler...all future steps are Aluminum oxide 500 for one week - 1000 for one week - 1200 for two weeks - 5000 for three weeks This is my first batch finished using this progression Here is another example of this batch. It is my best shine yet...but I feel I can still do better

Wow! What a process. Great pics! Yeah, one week each of four different grits just did not work for me…now I try to let the rocks tell me

Nice build rocket . That's a real nice polished specimen too. Thanks…my first DIY tumbler was a complete failure, built with wood and screws…this one is a much more serious effort…best thing, it works!
