I just got a new vibrating tumbler. Can I take rocks that I tumbled a long time ago in my rotary tumbler and throw them in my new one to see if I can get a better shine?

If they are at a stage to proceed yes.
If you already attempted to rotary polish and want to make them better, still yes. Take them back to whatever stage you are starting your vibe at and proceed as normal. Keep in mind, if they are softer/harder than the rest, your results may be mixed.

I'm only using the vibe for the last polishing step. I use the rotary for steps 1-3

Should still be ok. Never know until you give it a go.

Denversue, I used my vibe to repolish some hand polished agate and jasper cabs with good results and a better polish. The material was Mexican and Morrisonite.

Yeah why not, as the second post made clear, just make sure you keep similar hardness stones together. Also, you can speed up your polishing process but doing the rough work in your rotary and everything else in your new vibe. You will have finely polished stones within a weeks time and use much less grit. Haveeeee funnnnnn!
