Everyone here talks about adding some water to the Tumble Vibe 5. I called the company because the instructions that came with the tumbler are terrible. The guy said it is a dry tumbler, and don't add any water. What's the story?

There is a video on YouTube on how to use it for rocks.
The suggest 2 tablespoons, I don't use that much. I let the rocks tell me how much I need. I usually start the rocks, add water with a sprayer to get everything moving, add grit/polish and adjust the water as needed to keep everything moving.

All my rocks are wet when I add them to my thumler. I add grit, then spray bottle to get it moving. Generally a tiny bit to start. It does require more water to keep it moving in the following days.too much water washes the grit off, not enough water , it’s just a rhythm section with no movement.

thanks. How many days does it take to polish? How full do you fill the tumbler?

I fill it to the blue line. I use large ceramic media, I’m mostly doing larger rocks. I do 3 or 4 days per stage, longer if it’s below 20 degrees. Don’t want to get frostbite washing rocks. It takes a little time to get it down pat, don’t stress. It’s hard to screw up rocks in the final stages.

For a TV-5, I fill to just below the bowl rim.

You can try one or two days. I go by what the rocks say. I like to go 4 days in final polish. I’m doing mostly larger nodules with a polished flat side. To me they take longer then regular “round” stones.

I go just 48 hours per stage so done in 6 days 8 if I add a 1000 grit stage. So far the only things that didn't shine were Common Opal and Blue Onyx.
