I have heard a lot of good things about this particular magazine. Is anyone a current subscriber and do you recommend it? Thanks!

I don't think it's printed anymore. I believe a few years ago they changed the name to lapidary journal jewelry artist, but from a quick Google search it appears last fall was the last printed issue of that as well.

MsAli is correct. The final issue of Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist was the Fall 2021 issue. If you're looking for more lapidary focused information Rock and Gem Magazine might be a good choice.

NDK , MsAli , and hummingbirdstones . Thank you all for the replies. That's too bad the shut it down. I'll check out the rock and gem magazine. Thank you! You should try yard sales, garage sales, estate sales, used bookstores. I have inherited some from my late MIL. Many lapidary clubs have a lot that have been donated to them over the years. They sometimes offer them at shows and sales, cheaply or free, to cull their numbers. Or go to eBay and search for Lapidary Journal Magazines. There are some offered for sale right now. One random pick I saw - Ten issues for $10 + $8 shipping,i Buy it now price. I have been holding onto a few older issues. Had a subscription back in the 70s and 80s. My favorite issue has a photo of a huge Lightning Ridge (Australia) black opal on the cover, and story about it inside.

I took it for years. Good magazine. Rock and Gem focused on trips. Snoop around as rockpickerforever suggested.

Perk I have a bazillion old ones. I have a few newer copies. The old ones at WAY more useful and more articles that I’m interested in. I would keep my eyes peeled at flea markets, yard sales, and rock shows for the old ones. They can usually be had for 50 cents to a dollar each.

Rock clubs sell them all the time at shows for next to nothing. I think they could be shipped "book rate" if someone were willing to ship you some. One of the old timers in our club scanned what he was interested in several years ago and used the rest in his wood stove because no one wanted them. I wonder if there is a set in a library somewhere? If I see any in and old collection I let you know.

I dont know when they changed it, but USPS Media Mail can not be used to ship material with advertising in it anymore.

I dont know when they changed it, but USPS Media Mail can not be used to ship material with advertising in it anymore. Oh, the USPS eliminated magazines from the list of acceptable contents for Media Mail a lonnnng time ago, at least 15 years. Which truly sucks because it's made it pretty much impossible to resell issues of specialty magazines and at least be able to break even. When my father passed away and we moved my mother out of her house into an apartment, we thought to sell her collection of many, many years of orchid-related magazines. Rather than piece them out, we created lots consisting of individual years. The problem was that by the time we added the postage for multiple pounds of paper and factored in the fees that eBay and PayPal charge, we couldn't charge enough to even break even. What we ultimately did was to create six-month lots, which would just fit into Priority Flat Rate envelopes. Not as inexpensive as Media Mail, but low enough to make it worth the time and effort, and to cover the costs.
