The TV-5 is by far the loudest of any of my machines. I attribute it to the hard plastic bowl. Add in a flat bottom on the bowl and the flow isn't as smooth as other vibes and creates A LOT of noise. Until the slurry gets good, I have to wear ear protection to check it.

I bought my TV5 right after getting my first rotary and before I had a batch ready for stage 2. I can't imagine doing it any other way. The machine is noisy, especially on startup, it calms down a bit once a decent slurry builds up. I made a cylinder from corrugated acoustic foam that I had laying around to tame the noise and it works like a charm. The noise level is reduced by at least 75%. I run mine out it the shop but with my noise reduction device in place, I wouldn't mind having it in a backroom in the house. Too bad you threw yours away, I would have gladly bought it from you. It's a great product for the price and the manufacturer has been great standing by their product when I had an issue with bowl scoring. Btw, I got the Raytech instead of a Lotto because I didn't want to go through the trouble and inconvenience of having to anchor it to a cinderblock.
PS, I am trying to devise a way to "double deck" two units in the same footprint. Pretty sure a small solid platform and a second cylinder of foam will do the trick. I will be buying another.

I have used this model that a friend loaned me. I did not find it be much more noisy than my UV-18. I think one of the big mistakes people make is that they do not fill the vibe sufficiently with a mix of different sized stones. Not filling the vibe sufficiently makes the stones bounce around more slamming the walls making more noise.
