You've excelled again Jason, thanks for the eye candy. Thanks so much Rick! I wasn't too keen on moss agates when I first started...but now I love all the little things that can be seen in these pieces. jasoninsd , Just how pitty were they? I am just resigned to leaving a few pits in good material. Seeing a few pits in a nice moss doesn't bother me. Ughhhh...it is SO hard for me to make a final decision to let a cab go! I used to think EVERY cab was salvageable. However, the one's I pitched were really pitty. It severely detracted from the stone. A couple of the ones above actually have a couple small pits in them, but they aren't "in your face"...Numbers 1, 2, and 5 all have a pit or two. The ones I pitched looked like a swiss cheese rock! LOL #2 is my favorite, too, but they are all lovely. Pits are PITA but if there's not too many, not a big deal. It's the nature of the beast. You could always use fencejumper 's method of treating stones if there are too many pits. Thanks Robin! I've come to terms lately with a pit or two being in the stone. As long as it's not glaring right at you. I thought about Paul's method...but I had to be honest about the cabs, they just weren't worth it.

I have NO clue of course what it is...I just grind and polish! LOL One of these days I need to slow down on making cabs and get to wrapping some of these...one of these days! LOL

jasoninsd I bet you have a bunch of cabs done. I’ve never gotten that far... I have ended up with some pendant shaped polished rocks and what I call cough drop shaped ones.🤣 But one day I plan to. Everyone on rth will know when the time comes bc the site will be flooded with my questions about cabbing🤣🤣🤣 I did finally get a saw with the intention of slabbing and/or shaping rocks but it got too cold to do it outside. (I did use my saw once in my bathroom which somehow ended up making a big mess even though I put drop cloths everywhere🤣) Sigh.... don’t think I’ll do that again 🤣

There seems to be no end to the varieties of moss agate. I like the second one best, although the fifth one has some sweet moss as well. The elongated oval is a good shape as well.

I don't know why I tend to forget about the elongated oval shape...maybe I need to think of it as a teardrop with two fat ends!

I forgot to mention -- I like the fat shield shape. And I like that material in slab form, but it's one of those lacy agates that is tough to frame in a cab. Nothing against your cab. My comment relates to the slab you sent me of the same material, and the fact that I spent about 10 minutes with every template I own, and I couldn't find anything to mark. The slab itself looks great, I just can't pick out a pattern or shape that looks good on its own. I set it aside and I'll try again in a week or two.

Okay...thank god I'm not the only one who wasted a TON of time trying to figure out where to find a shape! LOL I didn't do it purposely by the way...but it's kind of like sending someone a 1000 piece puzzly and taking out 7 pieces without telling them! LOL I've been using more shield shapes lately. I like skinny ones, fat ones...as long as the top has a good angle to it, and isn't too flat...
